10 ΛΑΤΕΣ NAPOLEON 111 ΛΙΝΟ ΧΑΡΤΟΠΕΤΣΕΣ ΜΕ V.C. ΑΡΧΙΚΑ - Ύφασμα - 69 cm - 79 cm
10 very rare Granite design pure linen napkins with V.C. initials.
In all my years being surrounded with and by French Antique linen
I have never come across these particular and magnificent initials.
The initials are not only embroidered in high relief ,
but also each initial has been "decorated with a "red slip embroidery".
The side "branches" on both initials look like a young sapling and is in total
harmony with the design.
I am still not 100% sure, but it could be that there are 3 initials as
the first letter V. has on either side 1 vertical red line
which could indicate that this means H.V.C.
Whichever the initials measure 11cm x 7cm.
The napkins are framed with a very deep border of
Arabesque design. This in NOT printed onto the linen,
but woven which again is rare.
An excellent set and in such good condition.
PLEASE NOTE:
1 napkin has a tiny hole close to the Arabesque design.
