ABOUT THE ARTIST: GOMAD is a color-blind Dutch artist, born in 1972 in Sittard, a city located in the southern Netherlands on the border with Germany and Belgium, where he grew in a unique blend of cultures and influences, and still resides today. Heavily influenced by the iconic film 'Beat Street' and the graffiti documentary 'Style Wars,' GOMAD played a pioneering role and actively participated in the Southern Dutch graffiti scene from the early 80s. His studies and Bachelor of Arts from the local art school helped him refine and develop his unique style, often described as "a pinnacle of post-neo graffitism." GOMAD's work features photorealistic images set against cubist and organic shapes, creating mind-bending, surrealistic scenes. His approach to composition is reminiscent of Picasso or Hieronymus Bosch. GOMAD combines oil, acrylic, and spray paints in a vibrant and idiosyncratic manner. His post-graffiti urban art murals and paintings can be found across the world, from the Netherlands to Belgium, Germany, France, England, Italy, Croatia, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, Greece, Spain, and all the way to the United States and Australia. ABOUT THE ARTWORK: This composition parallels a red robin, with its deep orange chest, perched on the two gracefully clasped hands of a woman set at the center of the composition. GOMAD's style is at its best here. The dialogue of the woman's profile with the bird's head, the composition, and the choice of colors that respond to each other. Is it the spirit of the bird and nature inspiring the feminine energy, or the essence of what nature is, that echoes in this aesthetic arrangement? The shapes and overlay create depth and movement, leaving us feeling like we are ready to take off and fly alongside both figures. This balance and the unusual choice to set the focus and perspective are what draw us to this artwork. We hope you will feel the same, and that GOMAD's artwork can find a beautiful place in your interior to soothe and energize you every day. STREET-ART MOVEMENT: GOMAD belongs to the wide and ever growing Street-Art movement that originated in the late 80s graffiti scene and has since been reclaiming public spaces as a platform to emancipate art and make it truly accessible to everyone. Councils and, overall, the public domain have now recognized its power and ability to renew and revive cities, abandoned areas, and spark interest for people to (re)engage with commons. Many festivals, commissions, and dedicated museums now celebrate the diversity of styles coexisting within Street-Art. Some of the most prominent members of this movement include pioneers and precursors Keith Harring, Basquiat, Jacques Villeglé, and the more contemporary Banksy, Obey (Shepard Fairey), Invader, C215, JR, Vhils, Mr. Brainwash, FAKE, Jef Aerosol, Swoon, Speedy Graphito, Cornbread, Futura 2000, Kaws, D*Face, Misstic, Fin DAC, the London Police,1010, Alexi Diaz, Alias, Alice Pasquini, Axel Void, Blek le rat, Cranio, Super A, Danielle SeeWalker, Hoxxoh, Bortusk Kleer, Arsh Mandrome, Hök, Moabit, TedyZet, Utopia, Jago Oner, Santicri, Kev Munday amongst many, many more.Numbered, signed and embossed Offset Lithograph by Dutch artist Marcus Debie aka.
