Kingdom of Sicily - Tari Ruggero II - gold
Golden coin TARI struck in the year 549 of the Islamic calendar (1155), perhaps in Messina. The workshop was already active during the reign of Roger II (King from 1130 to 1154).
The inscription on the coin field mentions, in Arabic, the name and the title of the ruler and legend, also in Arabic, is the name of the workshop and the date. The flip side is divided by a large cross and under his arms we note the abbreviations in the Greek alphabet of the motto "Jesus Christ Conquers"; below you will find a small Latin cross with two bezants in the sides. The title of the King, in Arabic, is decidedly Islamic-inspired: "King William, the duce (al-hâdi) by the will of God (Allah)"
