Personal details:

In 1884 in Vught born Reinier Marinus Pijnenburg received his training as a painter in &#39;s-Hertogenbosch, first in French Kops and later at Piet Butcher senior. Around 1904 he went to work in Amsterdam in the workshop of Jan Dunselman. This was followed by a final study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. In 1908, traveled Pijnenburg to Paris where he worked in the studio of Fernand Sabbath and further proficient by copying old masters in the Louvre Museum. He also worked in the open air, as was popular since the Impressionists, and especially along the banks of the Seine. Pijnenburg quickly built a body of work and one could see his works at the exhibitions of the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon des Independants. From 1915 to 1920 he lived in Spain and he was influenced by the land and its inhabitants and by the traditional art he saw there. Pijnenburg earned his livelihood by giving painting lessons and sold his work in exhibitions in Barcelona and Madrid.
