The Full Story
Girard-Perregaux used to mark every new Olympic Games with the launch of a new chronograph, aptly named the Olimpico. There is a controversy as to whether the reference 9075-AF actually marked the 1968 Olympics or the 1976 Olympics (we lean toward the former); in any case, its sense of style is indisputable. The dial is divine to look at, with striking sub-registers and astutely placed scales around the perimeter. Interestingly, Excelsior Park manufactured this chronograph, and not all were branded Girard-Perregaux. It also explains the Excelsior Park 40 caliber that powers it. On the wrist, it looks very modern, given the thick lugs and the respectable 39mm case diameter. Regardless of when this Olimpico was originally launched, it's a great vintage find
