The “Raggiera”, traditional headdress, made of a set of silver pins, used in Lombardy since the 16th century, “La speràda di Lucia Mondella de I Promessi Sposi”, 1840. Silver 1000 - M.D.E.P.C. - T 23752L - 180 g The “Raggiera” consists of a set of pins, linked to each other in a radial pattern; it was used to keep the rolled braid on place, creating a sort of halo around the face; it was a way of styling hair and a social status symbol. It was used by Lucia Mondella, the main female character of the novel “I Promessi Sposi” by Italian writer A. Manzoni, and is an historical symbol of Lombardy. Hallmarked and stamped with the following words: ARG 1000 (silver 1000). Please, see pictures. In its original case.
