Good 4/4 GEWA, Mittenwald-Karwendel Violin From 1902

This GEWA violin made in Mittenwald-Karwendel Germany in 1902 is a particularly attractive antique piece made of high quality resinous wood. The top is medium grain Mittenwald spruce, both pieces are flamed maple from the Karwendel mountains. The fingerboard, the tailpiece, the pegs are all ebony. This is a quality violin that cannot be compared to other GEWA violins that can be found cheap online.  Similar quality GEWA violins sell for about 600 euros in local violin shops.  This model is based on Antonio Stradivari.  The style of the top and the back are in the Mittenwald tradition.  This violin is intact and in good condition. It has a resonant sound rich in harmonics, bright, warm, and clear. Shipped with its original wooden cloth-covered box as well as a 4/4 bow that needs new horsehair. Provenance: Mittenwald-Karwendel Made by: GEWA Mittenwald in Germany Length of the back: 35.5 cm. Date: 1902 Tone: warm, clear, bright. Notes: The violin’s 4 strings have been replaced (new). The violin’s bow is 74 cm long (needs new horsehair).
