Jan Simon Knikker, known as Jan, was born in 1911 in Leiden. He lived and worked in Wassenaar, London and the Hague. Signed with Jan Ball Jr. son of Jan Simon Ball SR. He was a student of the Academy of fine arts in the Hague (1928-1932) and he painted in figurative style landscapes and cityscapes. He is seen as a follower of the Hague School and he often worked for the art trade. His cityscapes are particularly sought-after in foreign countries. Condition: in a good state.
