In the nineteenth century it became fashionable to use special dinnerware during the mourning period. Initially people chose ‘black basalt ware' of Wedgwood. Soon they started manufacturing special mourning services with matching ornaments, followed by other manufacturers.
This water bowl and milk jug are from the firm Harding from Staffordshire. In very good practically unused condition, no damage. The pieces are pressed with make and model number on the bottom. The dimensions of the jug are; 11 cm high, 14 cm wide and 9 cm deep.
