Marcel Breuer - Gavina - Knoll - Couple of chairs mod. Cesca

Original in all of their parts and almost impossible to find are these two "Cesca" chairs offered in this lot, created by the prestigious company Gavina spa in San Lazzaro di Savena (Italy) in the late 60s. In New York in 1968, Dino Gavina convinces Marcel Breuer to put his designs from the 20s into production, including the Cesca chair, designed by Breuer in 1928. The chair was so successful, that the market was then invaded by many more or less reputable reproductions, which in any case exalted the prestige of possessing the original pieces. The company Gavina spa, whose president was one of the most famous Italian designers, Carlo Scarpa, was later incorporated by Knoll, which continues the production of many Breuer designs to this day. Supporting structure in continuous tube made of steel in mannesmann type, bent cold to give shape to the chair and then chrome-plated. Seat and backrest consisting of wooden frame lacquered black and secondary frame in Vienna straw attached to the frame with wicker cord. Everything according to Breuer's design, so beware of imitations and replicas. Marks present under the seats and on the steel tubes, demonstrating the originality of the items. Small imperfection on the Vienna straw that can be seen in the attached photos. Measurements: Width 47 cm Depth 46 cm Seat height 46 cm Backrest height 76 cm
