Beautiful signed plaster statue of nice dimensions (51 cm high). The little Docker of the port of Antwerp, a well-known work by Constantin Meunier (1831-1905) dates from circa 1890 (large bronze version at the Musée d'Orsay, France and on the main square of Antwerp, Belgium). Meunier is a Belgian realist painter and sculptor who denounces the working conditions of the working class. Rather than showing workers in tiring working positions, he preferred to show them proud, strong and dignified. He is one of the masters of realistic and social art.
In good overall condition (see pictures). The pictures are part of the description.
A small chip retouched on the hand (see photo).
