F. Dossi, pseudonym of Ivan Karpoff (Novocerkassk, 1898- Milan, 1970).
Since he was a child, he showed an extraordinary talent for drawing
and painting. He graduated from the Art School in Rostov,
and then moved to Kiev where he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts.
In 1925, after having obtained an American scholarship, he arrived in Milan
where he attended the Brera Academy.
He died in Milan in 1970.
He used to sign himself with the pseudonym of F. Dossi, (as in this painting).
