Bellarmine Jug - Beard Man Jug - Beard Man Jug - Folk Art - Stoneware, Gres, salt glaze
Special and beautiful stoneware Bartmann jug, covered with salt glaze including cobalt blue in the bearded face and the rosette coat of arms.
Dent on one shoulder side of the jug.
The Bartmann jug was in circulation.
Height of the jug is 23.5 cm.
To be dated about 1600 - 1620.
Production centre : Frechen - Köln - Germany.
Concerns an old (60s - 70s) fishing boat (from the fish nets) water find area of Enkhuizen (IJsselmeer Nederland).
From my own private collection.
It is in a beautiful beautiful used condition, no holes.
The jug hasn't been in shatters!
Local chips.
Only a touched up hairline/crack along a rosette coat of arms and on the shoulder, see pictures 18 and 19.
