Paul Permeke (Sidford G.B. 1918 - Westkapelle 1990) was a Belgian painter and illustrator. Self-taught. Youngest son of Constant Permeke. Lived for a year with other great painters such as Luc Peire and Rik Slabbinck. Since 1937, he painted scenes in peasant villages, caravans, farmers' balls, fairground scenes and mixed elements of Impressionism and Expressionism. After a stay in Spain and Portugal (1953-1954) and the South of France (1955), his palette became lighter, more joyful and sunnier. From 1960, he settled in Westkapelle and found his inspiration in the polder region and his eventful heavenly work can be found in the Museums of Antwerp and Oostende. Mentioned in the Belgian art books. Internationally well-known painter. Oil on hardboard (30 x 40 cm), in good condition. With frame (45 x 55 cm) in good condition.
