Metal cast sculpture in the shape of a roaring deer by Pierre-Jules Mene
This metal casting was manufactured at the turn of the century based on the original model from 1863 and is mounted on a wooden plinth. It shows a capital twelve point stag in a roaring position. The casting has been made with alot of detail. The base plate is signed and shows the date of the original sculpture ‘1843’.
Pierre-Jules Mene (1810-1879) was a famous French sculptor, who was known mostly for his animal sculptures and later sculptures of hunting groups and horses.
