Spindle cabinet - Oak - 17th century

Beautiful and characterful antique cabinet. The brown one was washed off and left in its own natural condition. Deliberately not waxed. Nice pure effect. Those dark circles on the panels are called the mirrors of the oak. They are food barrels that are visible through the sawing direction. The wood is 'quarter' sawed - like the quarters of the hands of the clock , right at the heart of the trunk. An expensive method because you have a lot of waste, but this wood is not only very beautiful and decorative but also does not warp. Beautiful early cabinet. Early feature are the 'short' hand-forged hinges - see close-up. Left shelves - left in the side walls. On the right a hanging area for clothing. The slippers - the bars it's on - are later. Nice size.
