Herman Makkink x Medicom - Christ Unlimited

Herman Makkink x Medicom. ‘Christ unlimited’. 2017. Sold out and ultra rare. Height: 52 cm. Width: 25 cm. With the two statutes placed next to each other, the width is over 30 cm. The Christ Unlimited sculptures by Herman Makkink left their mark in pop culture with their appearance in Alex DeLarge's bedroom in the film ‘A Clockwork Orange’. Herman Makkink explains how this happened: ‘The Christ Unlimited figurines were not designed for ‘A Clockwork Orange’. They were part of my workshop work at the time, and after seeing them, Kubrick wanted to use them for the film, probably because they had this somewhat futuristic look Stanley and his wife were looking for. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, London artists were super trendy. Rather than fighting the establishment, we wanted to shock above all. Christ Unlimited was inspired by a Christ statuette I found. The left arm and both legs were broken. I replaced them with one resulting in a more joyful pose of a dancer in a popular Balkan dance - the butchers' dance’. The Christ Unlimited sculptures are a reproduction orchestrated by Medicom Toy made of resin with a perfect finish. They are delivered in set of 2 pieces. In mint condition, original Medicom box and original shipping box. When displayed, these statues are simply masterful and exhibited alongside artists like Banksy, Whatshisname, Seth, Invader, C215, Imbue, Jef Aérosol, Dran, Kaws, Takashi Murakami, Warhol, Basquiat, Martin Whatson, Nick Smith, Michael Reeder... they will turn your living room into a veritable museum.
