Émile Louis Picault (1833 - 1915) was a French sculptor, raised in Royer. From 1863, he exhibited in the "Salon de Peinture". Picault was a very prolific artist who produced sculptures in abundance during his long sculpture career - more than 500 models in total. He began to show his works of art at the Salon from 1863. He signed most of his work with "E. Picault".
His work consists mainly of allegorical or patriotic subjects, war figures or mythological heroes, often with Latin or French titles.
The sculpture is about 40 cm high and weighs almost 5.5 kg. It is in very good condition, has a nice patina and very few traces of use.
