Superbly sculpted work by Joseph D'Aste (1881-1945) depicting a young girl holding and kissing a lamb, with the mother pressed against her legs, looking up while another lamb is buried under her belly suckling. The girl wears a cloth cap and clogs. On a green 'verde antico' marble base. Signed J. d'Aste. As in other works of his, D'Aste is a master in observation and depiction of ovicaprids.
