Beautiful Paris porcelain coffee cup. Rich blue décor and gilt with fine gold. Empire period, this is a production of the famous Darte Frères factory, circa 1805
The Darte family is a family of porcelain makers from which three different manufactures can originate. Louis Joseph and Jean François Darte, two brothers, founded the first factory from 1795, rue de la Pépinière. In the same year, they and their other brother Joseph Darte bought a porcelain factory on rue de Charonne. Separated on 1 August 1803, however, they continued to sell their productions together until 1806.
Gilt inside, which gives the illusion of drinking gold when the cup is filled with coffee. The cup is signed under the saucer.
Good overall condition, some gilding wear.
