Antique Ship's Compass Whyte, Thomson and Co - Brass glass - First half 20th century

Large gimbal mounted ships compass , made when Glasgow was having a boom in shipbuilding late 19 centery early 20 century. Made by the nautical instrument makers Whyte and Thompson established in Glasgow in 1827. Dia from the gimbal 240mm,with pins 290mm compass dia 250mm. There is a indent on the glass that would show if the ship was level used when loading. The rose had some age related flaking but still looks good brass has a nice patina.. Nice Scottish historic nautical item. Please see the photos as they are part of the listed discription Would make a nice decoration in a nautical setting office hotel yacht club pub harbor cafe or at home. Will be well packed for sending and sent with depending where.
