Casio - SA-9 - Mini Synthesizer - 1989

A true Musical Collector Item: Casio SA-9 mini synthesizer in perfect working order. 100 Excellent synthesizer sounds from 1989, great for sampling, circuit bending, etc. Tip: put the sound trough some modern effects and be stunned! Great secret weapon for 8-bit, lofi, synthpop, hiphop, avid house, all dance music, special effect samples, etc. This synth has some unique and characteristic algorithmic sound effects; many sound presets contain reverb or echo effects (simulated by envelope) and there are even melodic arpeggiator loops and disharmonic and atonal effect sounds like wicked sirens, sci-fi- and tekkno noises and also various drum kit modes with low- res percussion samples. Also the incredible static and naughty tooting "brass ens" and the squawky "elec organ" are very remarkable timbres of this hardware series. A lot of the very preset sounds are time- dynamically playable, i.e. the sound of the release phase (often reverb or echo) changes with the key press duration, which makes the sounds behave less static than normal sample based sounds. Very useable synthesizer. main features: - 32 mini keys ( F1 - C3 ) - built-in speaker - main voice polyphony 2 notes (+ accompaniment voices) - 100 excellent preset sounds {piano, elec. piano, honky- tonk piano, harpsichord, jazz organ, elec organ, pipe organ, church organ, street organ, accordion, brass ens, warm brass, trumpet, tuba, brass hit, wind ens, english horn, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, samba whistle, whistle, quena, flute, flute- vib, ocarina, bagpipe, harmonica, chorus, brass- strings, strings, warm strings, violin, violin- piano, cello, elec guitar, jazz guitar, mute guitar, metal guitar, slap bass, elec bass, wood bass, snare bass, ukulele, banjo, sitar, mandolin, harp, taishokoto, shamisen, synth- piano, synth- celesta, synth- clavi, synth- accordion, synth- brass, synth- reed, synth- lead, synth- strings, synth- guitar, synth- bass, glass harmonica, fantasy, waw voice, twinkle echo, metal lead, cathedral, cosmic dance, plunk extend, pop lead, pearl drop, airplane, ambulance, insect, emergency alarm, laser beam, cosmic sound, telephone, car horn, computer sound, typewriter, vibraphone, marimba, church bells, bells, gamelan, afro percussion, ethnic percussion, sample percussion, matsuri, wadaiko, triangle, conga/ agogo, cowbell/ clave, tom, rock drum, swing drum, bass/ piano, bass/ trumpet, piano/ flute, strings/ oboe} selected by 2 digit numbers - 29 preset rhythms {rock 1..2, 16 beat 1..2, disco 1..3, pops 1..3, slow rock, swing, march, reggae, tango, samba, bossa nova, beguine, waltz} (without accompaniment) - 13 preset "super accompaniments" {rock, pops, funk, slow rock, latin, jungle, orient, bagpiper, fanfare, child's play, classical, computer, new age music} (rhythms with accompaniment in fixed- key) - rhythms and accompaniment selected through keyboard keys - cipher buttons {"0".."9"} to select the preset sounds - volume +/- buttons (5 steps, reduce bit resolution, great bit decimator/extra lo-fi effects) - tempo +/- buttons (16 steps) - wavetable sound generator with sounds based 2 mixed low- res loop samples with independent, partly very complex algorithmic volume and pitch envelopes. CPU "OKI M6387-01, 983019" (30 narrow pin DIL) crystal clocked - demo melody (Swing tune, nicely orchestrated) - jack for adapter (included), also works with 4 AA batteries, battery compartment lid is present - size: 38 x 11 x 5 cm - weight 550 gr - original box included No less than 100 unique and very versatile 80’s era pop synth sounds with massive 8 or less bits sound quality, these preset sounds are simply AMAZING! The rhythm also sounds very special when amplified/sampled, due to its digital blip percussion; samples of this synth were heavily used in various early acid house musics. The drums are made from unique rough and blippy digital waveforms (possibly these are extremely low- res loop samples with decay envelope). The cymbals employ a rough and semi- metallic digital waveform. The synth is in excellent condition, complete with power supply, also works on batteries, and of course it has the battery cover. The synthesizer has as good as no user traces, excellent condition, the white keys have turned to light yellow, hardly any other signs of age, as you can see in the pictures. Collectors item, don’t miss your chance to bid on this special and versatile mini synth. All items are carefully packed and are shipped right away with insured courier. Low transport rates.
