N.N. / D. Stoopendaal - Biblia, Dat is De gantsche H. Schrifture (...) - alle 6 kaarten door D. Stoopendaal - 1729

Biblia, Dat is De gantsche H. Schrifture, vervattende alle de Canonijcke Boecken des Ouden en des Nieuwen Testaments. Door last der Hoogh-Mog. Heeren Staten Generael vande Vereenighde Nederlanden en volgens het Besluyt vande Synode Nationael (...) - Dordrecht, Pieter en Jacob Keur, 1729 - Oude Testament + Nieuwe Testament + Apocriefe boeken - (20)+(2)+302+(2)+134+(4)+(12)+164+(2)+66 leaves (×2 is number of pp) + 6 maps - original calfskin binding on oak boards; original brass fittings (corner pieces and clasps); gilt edges - 43 × 29 × 13 cm (!) - FOLIO Condition: fine / excellent - very neat all original binding with very solid joints (rare), complete spine (rare), complete fittings; neat block with original endpapers; overall very neat, very crisp and very white pages! (loose maps, ‘Reyse Pauli’ map damaged on the right edge, hole in bottom corner margin of 15 pages, a few of the usual spots, smal stains, a few small chips, otherwise very neat, crisp and white!). Complete! Note: some photos are a bit blueish due to twilight, in reality the paper is remarkably white! With all 6 (!) maps by D. Stoopendaal: Werelt Caert, Gelegentheyt Paradys, Veertich-Iarige Reyse, Jerusalem (De Tempel Salomons), Het Beloofde landt Canaan, Reysen Pauli. Also with beautiful initials and vignettes. At the time of publication of the “Werelt Caert”, the world was not yet entirely explored and known. California for example is depicted as an island, Australia still had to be partly discovered and is referred to as ‘Nieuw Holland’! The world map in itself is very fascinating! A valuable copy. Complete with all maps. Beautiful authentic and robust fittings. Very neat, crisp and white paper! Collector’s item!
