Egon Schiele (1890-1918), after - Arnold Schönberg

Original heliogravure / lithography on thick quality paper with signature in the plate. This reproduction of Egon Schiele was printed in a limited, small edition in 1950 by the State printing house of Austria. This reproduction was never framed and was kept in great condition. These reproductions are difficult to find because they are located at official agencies or in private collections. Copies from the same series have been sold on Catawiki in the past for more than 1500 euro. A certificate and additional information are an integral part of this lot. Egon Schiele (12 June 1890 - 31 October 1918) was an Austrian painter. Schiele was a protégé of Gustav Klimt and an important figurative painter of the early 20th century. His work is renowned for its intensity and raw sexuality, and also for the many self-portraits. The twisted body shapes and the expressive line that characterised Schiele’s work, mark the artist as an early exponent of expressionism. The printing process is of the highest quality and is almost comparable to the original. Today, there are only three publishing houses in the world that apply this. The colour image is split up - from light to dark - into maximum of 25 colours and then printed on top of each other in as many print cycles. This technique was mainly used in small editions. These reproductions will be sent professionally packed between two pressed plates and insured with track and trace code.
