Corneille (1922-2010) - Drenthe

Guillaume Corneille van Beverloo, better known as Corneille, was a Dutch painter. Although largely self-taught, he attended art courses at the Amsterdam National Academy between 1940 and 1942. In 1946 he had his first exhibition in Groningen. He stated that painting is not a hobby or a job, but more of a calling. Initially he was strongly influenced by Picasso's work, but in 1948 he detached himself from it and became one of the founders of the Dutch experimental group, together with Karel Appel and Constant Nieuwenhuys. All three artists left Amsterdam and moved to Paris, where they formed the international art group Cobra. Viewing of the lot is always possible. All contact information can be found on our own website. Art Dumay has an in-house frame making shop with almost 100 years of experience. If you are interested, please contact us and we will gladly help you.
