Yamazaki Choun (1867-1954) was a japanese sculptor active from Meiji to Showa period. He was a disciple of Takamura Koun. Together with Yonehara Unkai and Hirakushi Denchu formed the Japan Sculpture Society. He has exhibited many works, mainly human sculptures, at the Bunten, Teiten, Shinbunten, and Nitten exhibitions. Yamazaki Choun has served as a Teiten judge. He was Imperial House Artist and a member of the Japan Art Academy. He was designated as a Person of Cultural Merit in 1952. His works could be found in many museums, such as The Museum of the Imperial Collections, Sannomaru, The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, The Walters Art Museum, Fukuoka Art Museum, Ashmolean Museum, Oxford,... Black lacquered stand is not included.
