Stone, Wood - Lovely suiseki 水石 (scholar’s stone) of vertical organic form made of white-veined red stone. - Shōwa period (1926-1989)
Nice suiseki 水石 (scholar’s stone) in a cherished vertical smooth and organic shape. Made of white-veined dark red natural stone with grey, black and amber accents.
Fastened onto a custom made black lacquered wooden base 台座 (daiza).
Underside of the base with an inscribed label:
“Okoyama Prefecture - Bizen (former province located in the southeast of present-day Okayama Prefecture) - Five-colour stone” 岡山県 - 備前五 - 色石.
Approx. size including daiza:
Height 37.5 cm, Width 31 cm, Depth 14 cm.
Weight 14.5 kg
Period: Japan – Shôwa period (1926-1989).
