Following the traditional canons of the Russian Sacred Art Impressive and large double face icon with the scene of Christ baptism by St John the Baptists and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Finelly executed. Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker: was a historic 4th-century Saint and Greek Bishop of Myra. Because of the many miracles attributed to his intercession, he is also known as Nicholas the Wonderworker . He had a reputation for secret gift-giving, such as putting coins in the shoes of those who left them out for him, and thus became the model for Santa Claus. His reputation evolved among the faithful, as was common for early Christian saints. His feast day is 6 December. Baptism of Christ: The Baptism of Christ is one of the most important moments of the New Testament, and is still today one of the most represented scenes in the Russian iconography. On this ancient wood icon there are Christ within river Jordan as he is being baptized, and John the Baptist on the left bank, bowed towards Christ. On the other side there are some angels waiting to dress Jesus up. Condition: In fair condition, Saint nicholas shows signs of paint flacking and restoration may be advisabe, the is a restoration made fixing a large crack as seen in the pictures. Professionally packed and shipped with upmost care. This increases the shipping cost slightly but it reassures that it arrives without damages.
