The Rare Cask series debuted at the end of 2014, described as the quintessence of Macallan and its team, which applies an extremely strict policy in the selection of casks intended for maturation of this single malt.
It emphasizes the use of the highest quality sherry-seasoned barrels (European and American oak) and the natural color of the drink. This edition is based on the crème de la crème of the distillery's stock, and each barrel requires the approval of a group of experienced Macallan blending specialists.
