PLEASE NOTE: This is a recurring auction. The seal number(s) you see on the photos might differ from the one(s) on your bottle(s). 2019 JEAN HUGUES-GROS, Odisseia Grande Reserva Red 4 x 0.75L Douro Region DESCRIPTION It was in 2004 that the first Odisseia wines were produced. But Jean-Hugues Gros had already been working in the Douro since 1999. After completing the Enology course and several internships in Burgundy in 1992, Jean-Hugues Gros had the unique opportunity to spend 16 months at Sandeman, in Porto. And that was how he began his discovery of Port and Douro wines. Today, Jean-Hugues Gros is a producer and also a winemaking consultant for several Douro farms, such as Quinta da Casa Amarela, Quinta do Cume and Quinta do Espinho. WINEMAKER: Jean-Hugues Gros. AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS 91 Points, Robert Parker (2007 Vintage) 17.5 Points, Vinho Grandes Escolhas (2015 Vintage) Gold Medal, Mundus Vini Spring Tasting (2017 Vintage) 17.5 Points, Revista de Vinhos (2015 Vintage) Gold Medal, Singapure Awards (2015 Vintage) WINE VARIETIES: Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional & Tinta Roriz. VINIFICATION The Odisseia Grande Reserva is produced only in the best years, when weather conditions have allowed the grapes to achieve exceptional quality. Following the vintage, the blend is made from the finest wines from Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz and will age in new 500 liter French oak casks for 12 months. TASTING NOTES The wine is concentrated, of great complexity and with high aging potential. The first impact comes from the quality of the fruit, ripe and very expressive, unfolding into notes of raspberry and blackcurrant, a balsamic and light smoky touch. The flavor highlights the silky tannins, arranged in a full body balanced by excellent acidity. Deep, full of flavor, long and classy. SERVING Pair with red meats, codfish, cheese and game meat. Store in a cool and dry place, sheltered from light and temperature fluctuations. Keep the bottle in a horizontal position. Best served at a temperature between 16-18ºC.
