First edition of this work of philosophy. In original soft paper covers, ready for the owner to bind up. Covers are in good condition with a touch of darkening and edgewear, there is a little marking to the spine but good overall. Inside in very good, clean condition, with quite a few of the pages still uncut. Slightly darkened to the edges only. xxxii, 764pp. Marty (1847-1914) was a close associate of Franz Brentano and a pioneer in the philosophy of language. This volume develops the theories presented in Marty's major 1875 work Ueber den Ursprung der Sprache (On the Origin of Language, 1875). A second volume was planned but never published
