Genève Chronometro Gondolo & Labourian Rio de Janeiro 18K GOLD pocket watch from 1908: Some facts about THE GONDOLO - AN EXTRAORDINARY HERITAGE: The Gondolo collection was named after the famous retailer in Rio de Janeiro, Gondolo & Labouriau, with whom Patek Philippe enjoyed a strong and successful business relationship between 1872 and 1927. This bond resulted in the creation of timepieces - designed exclusively for the Brazilian retailer - named the “Chronometro Gondolo”. The collection initially consisted only of pocket watches, before the first wristwatches appeared in the 1920s. CHRONOMETRO GONDOLO SPECIALLY COMMISSIONED MOVEMENT (1900s): the highest grade, signed Patek Philippe & Cie Genève, the gear-train of 9-carat gold, an 'ébauche' (movement-blank), which was based on a drawing by Jean-Adrien Philippe (1815-1894) patended in the United States on 13 January, 1891. Serial number of the movement: 139120 (dates the watch to 1908) Case number: 246849 Country of manufacture: Switzerland Dial: enamel, white, original, signed Patek Philippe & Cie. Genève Chronometro Gondolo Crystal: Mineral Enamel dial with black Roman numerals is in original condition ( never restored or repainted ). There are some microscratches on it. 18K Solid Gold case is smooth on the outer side. There are gold hallmarks and P.P. Co. sign on each inner side of case. There are no major signs of wear on the case. The highest grade movement is in very good working order. It keeps accurate time well. It's after watchmaker's service.
