DESCRIPTION These are "Kashi Gata 菓子型" the mold of Japanese traditional sweets called "Wagashi 和菓子" Dimensions 2.3, 5.6, 42.5 cm (biggest one) Generally good condition. Signs of wear from age, chips, stains, rubbing, scratches, marks, cracks; for condition, please, take a look at pictures. Kashi Gata 菓子型 itself was certified as Traditional Crafts in Kagawa prefecture in 1999 is indispensable for making Japanese traditional sweets, originated in the Edo period. With various types of chisel, we carve patterns such as fish and flowers in reverse. Stack two finished wooden molds, add ingredients such as sugar and bean paste, and pull them out to make Japanese traditional sweets of various shapes. These sweets were once often used for festivals and were a symbol of prayer and gratitude. The bright red sea bream Rakugan(dry confection of starch and sugar) was also a magical amulet.
