Jar - Lushan Phosphatic Splash Glazed Jar With Handles - Stoneware
Beautiful large Chinese stoneware jar with ruyi-shaped lug handles. Covered in dark, black-brown glaze with phosphatic splashes, stopping irregularly above an unglazed circular foot. Very much in the style of the Tang dynasty examples (see The Feng Wen Tang Collection of Early Chinese Ceramics, lot 239). Really gorgeous piece that looks even more impressive in person!
Several chips around the foot rim as seen in the photos. Otherwise in great condition with some usual minor firing imperfections.
