Alexandra Xu’s family heritage, tracing back to the early years of the Qing imperial dynasty, has given her a deep-rooted interest in Chinese art. Although born in Sweden, she was exposed to everything Chinese at an early age. Her family passed on their knowledge about Chinese history and culture, including the turbulent lives the family had in China. Growing up, Alexandra showed interest in art and antiques, stemming from her unique combination of Eastern and Western cultural perspectives. At just 11 years old, she bought her first Chinese antique, which she later sold at a major international auction house. Starting with internships at Sotheby's Beijing, Dongzheng Auction and Bukowskis Stockholm, Alexandra built a solid foundation in the world of Chinese art. After completing her bachelor's degree in Art History at Stockholm University, combined with a one-year study in Archeology at Peking University, she secured a full-time position at Bukowskis. Bukowskis is one of the leading auction houses in Scandinavia. Her strong connection to China's history and culture combined with her education, makes her engagement with Chinese art both academic and deeply personal.
