A very fine antique 4/4 violin, labeled Io Bap. Rogerius Bon Nicolai Amati de Cremona alumnus Brixiae fecit Anno Domini 1693. The instrument is in ready to play condition with tears, wears, small, professionally repaired crack on top under chin rest, new ebony and rosewood set up, new bridge and new strings. The violin has straight high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of strongly flamed maple with matched sides, neck and scroll. The back measures 359 mm. The total length of the violin is 585 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 162 mm; middle bouts: 105 mm; lower bouts: 198 mm. The sound is very deep, rich, powerful, suitable for soloist.
