You are bidding on an amazing old 4/4 violin with human scroll, labeled "Georges Chanot a Paris Annee 1848". Condition: Some tears and wears to original golden brown varnish, no cracks. Description: Good quality straight high grained spruce was chosen for the top, and the maple of the two pieces back with beautiful grain is strongly flamed. Matched sides, neck and scroll. The purfling is a tasteful work of good craftsmanship, just as the shining, golden brown varnish. New rosewood set up with Wittner tailpiece, new strings and new bridge, the violin is ready to play. The whole length of the violin is 605 mm and the back 359 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 165 mm; middle bouts: 110 mm; lower bouts: 207 mm. Full size. Shipping: Worldwide.
