Gyokusho Kawabata (March 8, 1842 - February 14, 1913) was a Japanese painter active in the Meiji period. His real name is Takinosuke. He served as a professor at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, established the Kawabata School of Painting, and other endeavors to train his successors, and was praised on a par with Gaho Hashimoto, his colleague at the school.
The tip of the hanging scroll is lacquered wood.
There are some stains.
Gyokusho's son, Shigeaki Kawabata, is writing the box book.
This is a wonderful hanging scroll of Mt. Fuji.
