Unknown - Persia Epic - 1825

An illuminated Persian manuscript page written in what appears to be a mix of elegant Ta'liq (verse headers) and Nasta'liq (main script), with a beautiful illuminated headpiece and title header in white Tuluth within a gold cartouche frame with delicate floral embellishment. The header surround is in celestial dark blue with more prominent floral decoration and a solid frame surround in red and green. The illumination above the header is equally decorative - almost ornamental - with gold and blue islands with floral embellishment. Finials extend from the headpiece to the top of folio. The script comprises four columns with a header in red cutting across the two central columns. The whole is bordered by gold, red and blue framing lines with the exception of the top horizontal which has a single thin blue line across it. This is an interesting folio representing the calligraphic developments that took place in Persia with the formulation of Tal'iq (hanging) script and its descendant Nasta'liq characterised by exaggerated density in the superstructure letters. Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing. Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. This is a Tax collected on behalf of your Government and is not an additional fee charged by us.
