Extreme rare view of Dead Sea in the old Palestine was executed in 1890-1900 by listed German-Austrian impressionist and orientalist Emil Uhl ( born 1864 in Brüx). Pupil of Fine Arts Academy in Munich, further trained in Paris by Bonnat and Roll. Worked in Munich and Vienna. The artist travelled to Orient, Egypt, Palestine, from where he recieved main motives for his paintings. His oriental landscapes, executed in the impressionistic (pointillistic) manner, are very rare on the art market . Literature: Thieme/Becker "Allgemeines Lexikon der bildenden Künstler.." ; H.Fuchs "Dictionary of Austrian Artists",Vienna, 1975; Thieme/Becker"General Artist lexicon", Leipzig, 1999. Inscription: signed and titeld in German E.Uhl,Totes Meer (Dead Sea), lower left. Technique: oil on canvas. Old modern style frame.
