Francien Krieg - Ray of ligth

The original was sold and was for the full 100 % donated to the Red cross organisation, Read the story about Dora here: Painter Francien Krieg from Puiflijk made a lot of new work during the lockdown in recent months. And a painting with a mission: the proceeds go to charity. 'Ray of light' is on an easel in her studio on Koningsweg. A small oil painting of 35 centimeters long and 25 centimeters wide. Then we see an elderly lady in her seventies. She peers out through the small hatch in her front door. Careful, a little afraid of the danger outside. "A little bit of optimism after the deep crisis we ended up in," Krieg explains. "It all affects me so much. The loneliness many elderly people are in now. The fear of getting sick, not daring to go outside. I just had to do something with it, to bring it to the attention and to contribute something for the good cause. '' Krieg decided in the newsletter to place a call to all her followers, for personal stories and photos about the corona crisis, to start working on it artfully. The reaction of 'Dora' from Maas and Waal - the lady would rather not have her real name and place of residence in the newspaper - made the most impression on the artist. De Puiflijkse says: ,, The small hatch in the door is Dora's contact with the outside world. She can take packets and medicines, and when the supermarket employee comes to deliver the groceries, the ATM will fit right through. '' The canvas has been on sale at art auction site Catawiki ,the proceeds will go entirely to the Red Cross. "Because this organization is active worldwide, I have chosen this goal," says Krieg. "Everyone knows the Red Cross. And everything goes to charity. Some artists auction their work and then donate 10 or 20 percent to charity. But then you actually do it for yourself? I find that incorrect. It's just supposed to be 100 percent. '' For the Puiflijk artist, known for her skin paintings and the book Precious Bodies (2018), this is the first auction for charity. “To keep it accessible, people can already bid from 1 euro. It is also quite exciting for me what it will deliver. ''
