Fulani "wedding beads" - Fulani - Mali (No Reserve Price)

A large collection of colourful glass beads of different designs and colours. Originally produced in the Czech region of Bohemia. These glass beads were exported to mainly the country of Mali in the 1960-70`s. On this string a few "art deco" beads are to be found, dating from the 1920`s. Also 8 triangular beads were added ( 30 x 35 mm.) and 2 "claw beads" ( 35 x 20 mm.). Some scratching is visible, due to their intensive use. These rather expensive beads were presented at a marriage-ceremony as a gift for the bride, hence the name "wedding beads ". Collected in the 1990's. in Mali. In all a very varied collection! For further reading see; Robert Liu; "Collectible beads". page 32.
