Gudendag, Amsterdam - Barometer - Brass, Glass

An excellent metallic barometer, measuring circa 14.2cm in diameter, mounted in a bespoke ebonized wooden stand for a height of 21.5cm and weight of 920g, signed with maker´s mark of Gudendag, Kalverstraat 76 in Amsterdam, opticians by appointment to the Royal Court. Records show that Gudendag was exhibiting at trade fairs since at least 1855, and we know that Gudendag was taken over by Salm in 1909, so that one may date the barometer as probably late 19th century. Condition: For the age, absolutely remarkable. Only the wooden base shows minor age cracks. The barometer itself in an exceptionally good condition. This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.
