2019 Gran Enemigo Single Vineyard Gualtallary Cabernet Franc Uco Valley - Mendoza - 1 Bottle (0.75L)

Reviews and awards: 100 points - Robert Parker 100 points - James Suckling Red wine of the year 2023 - Tim Atkin Best wines of 2023 - James Suckling Suckling: El Enemigo Cabernet Franc Gualtallary Gran Enemigo Single Vineyard 2019, is very affordable but difficult to find due to a small production run. It could have been our Wine of the Year, but the production was slightly less than 5,000 bottles and it’s already very difficult to find. So, it’s No. 2" Robert Parker: Robert Parker (100/100): "The incredibly subtle, elegant and austere 2019 Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Single Vineyard reminds me of a great vintage of Lafleur, my favorite Bordeaux, as this is one of the finest vintages for this single-vineyard blend of Cabernet Franc with some 15% Malbec. It develops very slowly in the glass and shows layers and layers of aromas but all in a very subtle way. It also reminds me of the fabulous 2013 that I rated 100 points in 2018, and there has not been such a perfect vintage since then. It has great balance and a silky mouthfeel, with refined, elegant tannins and a long, dry finish with a chalky and salty sensation and no room for sweetness; it's more about herbs, flowers and rocks than anything else." El Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Intense Cabernet Franc dominated wine from high-altitude vineyards in Gualtallary i Tupungato in Mendoza's Uco Valley wine region, over 1000 metres above sea level. The grapes are picked at 7 different times to achieve the perfect ripeness. The wine ages for 7 months in oak barrels. The vinification is also similar to the technique used for the famous French Cru Classé wine from Bordeaux. The wine has an intense dark colour, almost purple at the edges, a big bouquet of ripe black berries and a touch of spice, a complex flavour with great fullness that finishes soft and fruity. Alejandro Virgil himself calls it a "mini Cheval Blanc". This bottle comes without the case. All the bottles sold are maintained in perfect conditions, in our temperature controlled cellar in horizontal position and in absence of light. The conditions are always perfect!
