Amazing collector's item! Importent historical guitar build by German Höfner in 1955. This guitar was not but build by Höfner, but -as a test- in the UK! One of only three guitars that Höfner had build in England in preparation for the construction of electric guitars in their own Höfner factory in Bubenreuth. Only two were build in 1953 and only this one in 1955. Correspndance with the German Höfner-company about this guitar is included with the guitar and original hard case (in those years Höfner didn't use self build hard-cases yet). In the early sixties electric guitars emerged , and instrument manufacturer Höfner wanted to conquer the market as well. In preparation for their own line of electric guitars, they had three test copies built. This is one of the three! The name "Höfner" is not yet displayed on the headstock, but the sticker on the inside clearly indicates the origin and serial number of this historical masterpiece. The guitar is also mentioned on Höfners website and in their book "Höfner 125-years Guitars and Violins, a celebration" which was published in 2012. It is thus the third-oldest guitar of the President-model. Famous musicians like George Harisson and Buddy Holly played on the later models of the Höfner-President. The guitar is in good conditions, almost no damage.
