The seal number(s) you see on the photos might differ from the one(s) on your bottle(s). 2021 Kopke São Luiz Reserva White 6 x 0.75L Douro Region DESCRIPTION In 1636, a journey took place between Hamburg and Portugal that would prove to be the root of a long story: Nicolau Köpke arrived in his new country as Consul General of the Hanseatic Cities. Two years later, in 1638, he signed the first bottles of wine sent to Northern Europe. The purchase of a farm in Douro, in 1781, marks the transition from a purchasing company to a large wine producer. Port Wines are gaining importance in the company, quickly becoming the main business. Nicolau Kopke & Co. becomes an example of innovation, integrating wine production and trade in the same company. In 1841, the firm assumed the name of C. N. Kopke, a name which remains as such to this day. In the coming centuries, Kopke will strive to honor its legacy, which has been built with passion across generations. WINEMAKERS: Ricardo Macedo. VINIFICATION The harvest of Viosinho was made by the end of August. Arinto and Folgozão were harvested in the beginning of September, by hand and directly to small capacity boxes. Maceration with skins for approximately 10 hours, with fermentation in french oak barrels. Matured for 6 months in the same barrels with bâtonnage method. TASTING NOTES A remarkable opulent nose of tropical fruit and subtle notes of smoke from the wood barrel. Striking on the palate for its perfect balance between creaminess and acidity. An engaging and persistent wine. SERVING Ideal to combine with fat fishes and white meat. Serve at a temperature between 12ºC and 14ºC.
