H45cm Big Rare Vintage Kokeshi, signed by Toa Sekiguchi - Wood - Japan - Shōwa period (1926-1989) Artist: Toa Sekiguchi 関口東亜(b1942-) Born in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture in 1942. This artist began creating original kokeshi dolls around the year 1966. Notable Awards: Received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Encouragement Prize at the National Modern Kokeshi Exhibition in 1985 for the work "Tendril." Awarded the Governor of Miyagi Prize and the Governor of Gunma Prize at the All Japan Kokeshi Contest. Received awards such as the Mainichi Shimbun Company Prize at various competitions. Awarded the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Prize and the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Prize at the All Gunma Modern Kokeshi Contest.
