This fascinating novel on the Industrial Revolution by Victor Hugo, this edition marked as sixth edition being published in the same year as the first edition. Complete in three volumes. In the original French text. Dedicated to the island of Guernsey, this novel is set just after the Napoleonic Wars and explores the impact that the Industrial Revolution had on the island. Hugo spent fifteen years in exile on Guernsey, being sent to exile due to his political stances. Whilst on Guernsey he published his famous political pamphlets against Napoleon III.
Condition. Good. Tight bindings, some light rubbing to board edges and corners. Occasional light foxing. No inscriptions.
