Aquarelle représentant des personnages dans un pard, signée Edward WESSON (1910-1983) Painter in oil but especially watercolour, handling a variety of subjects with an assured wash technique. Born in Blackheath, southeast London, he learned “from reading of the methods of such masters as E W Haslehurst and Adrian Hill – and by bitter experience!” Wesson spent 20 years perfecting his technique before exhibiting, then he was prolific at the RA, NS, RBA, ROI and RI, as well as at provincial galleries. He contributed to Leisure Painter and Artist magazines and painted posters for British Railways and the National Savings Bank. Lived at Guildford, Surrey, where the Borough collection holds his work. The Alexander Gallery, Bristol, held a major show in 1999.
