Unknown - Quran - 1751

A superb leaf from a miniature Qur'an dated 1751 and scribed in India. This leaf written on burnished paper, is beautifully intricate with arabesque gold borders, with beautifully spaced naskh script in black ink pillowed in gold clouds and still with a wonderful clarity. There are diacritical markings in red to guide the reader and the verses are separated by simple gold aya verse markers. A single commentary is provided lower left in the margin. We believe this leaf to be from Chapter 36, Ya-Sin (Ya-Sin), verses 76-77 which translate as, " So do not let their words grieve you O Prophet, indeed we fully know what they conceal and what they reveal. Do people not see that We have created them from a sperm drop...". The leaf is not mounted. leaving the buyer to decide how they wish to display this wonderful manuscript. Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing. Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. This is a Tax collected on behalf of your Government and is not an additional fee charged by us.
